INSATRANSPORT – our company history
On April 1, 1976, the company was founded in Frankfurt. Headquartered am Autohof West and three employees at first intercourse were entertained to Italy. After a short time the slogan was “The for Italy!” Has become synonymous with INSATRANSPORT respective abbreviation “INSA”.
1979 Relocation to Frankfurt harbor
The constant expansion of transport links around Western Europe made the move to larger premises necessary. The contacts in European countries developed constantly on, the activities were expanded and additional storage areas were rented in Frankfurt and Hanau.
1989 Fall of the iron curtain and opening to the east
As a result of market liberalization with Eastern Europe the sphere of INSA also expanded with additional scheduled services.
1996 Membership with IFA (International Forwarding Association)
The connection to the International Federation enabled new contacts and transport links, particularly in the Nordic countries.
Since then INSATRANSPORT maintains regular traffic also to Scandinavia.
2001 Creation of air and sea freight department
Due to the continuously increasing demands on performance the department for handling air and sea shipments was founded.
Strenghts have been focused in the container shipping to USA and Asia.
Therewith advice for nearly all forwarding services and logistics issues could be be ensured.
2003 Relocation to Gwinnerstraße, Frankfurt
After the area in the eastern Harbour and the leased satellite facilities were no longer sufficient to manage the growing transshipment volumes, the company moved into the larger shipping facility within Frankfurt city-limits.
The new facilities reside close to freeway exits for A66 (north-south) and A661 (east-west) directions.
2009 Foundation INSA air & sea logistics GmbH
In Kelsterbach, in close proximity to air cargo hub Frankfurt international airport, the new subsidiary for the special requirements of air and sea freight has been settled.
2012 Made-to-measure shoe logistics
The new division shoe logistics since manages the world merchandise acquisitions, direct distributions from country to stores, warehouse concepts, value-added services and more – according to individual customer needs.
The IT infrastructures have been completely renewed with sustainable techniques, including consequently open source products (i.e. libre office).
2014 INSA air & sea grows
The order volume has grown disproportionately and is handled by eight employees.
At the same time the company moved into the expanded office space at the airport site.
2015 Insa is part of the VTL CargoFamily
INSA strengthens its German domestic groupage services to respond to customers and partners needs.
Joining the cooperation VTL Networked Transport Logistik GmbH in Fulda, with more than 130 medium-sized cargo companies, INSA expands his domestic services.
2016 Anniversary 40 Years
Insatransport has been developing with 20% of turnover into a full-service provider for shoe-logistics.
Insa air & sea logistics has won the WWPC Excellence Award for the 3rd time.
The course for the future has been set:
Marco Sterlike und Christopher Schlitt have been graduated as bachelor of transport management. They are integrated in the companies management decision processes.
INSA has regular groupage direct services in all European economic centers.
In 2,500 m² the logistics of warehouse space and 3,000 m² open space goods are transshipped to and from all European countries at the Frankfurt site.
The shoe logistics division runs consignment warehouses in Frankfurt, Verona, Alicante und Porto with totally 5.000 qm of storage space.
Overall more than 40 commercial staff and 16 industrial workers take responsibility for the businesses at INSA and Frankfurt Kelsterbach.
INSA is a multicultural operation and forms since the founding resistantly young people to merchants for freight forwarding and logistics services.
Part-time study plans are supported and can be connected from the beginning of the apprenticeship.
INSA is still full family-owned and managed.
